Coaching & Training STN has provided the best training for players in our region for the past 8 years. Professional coaches from across the region get involved in our program. College coaches, school coaches and guest clinicians offer training to our players though STN teams, camps and group training. During games the coaches observe the players putting what they have learned into the game environment and give the players feedback so that they continue to develop. This is done with the coaches being respectful of the players and not raising their voices. Our staff have a measured approach to coaching. Most players want more STN training after one session with our staff...there is a level of enjoyment that has players wanting more. Training Focus The training within STN is appropriate for the level of player. Sessions are structured to allow for the age and ability of the group and the STN staff recognize first and foremost that we are teachers of the game. Club Philosophy Many have commented that STN has been a "breath of fresh air" regarding the way we do things. Our focus has always been on improvement and enjoyment of every player in the program. Winning isn't the first priority. We recognize that winning takes care of itself if you first have the developmental approach to each player. Yes, there are times where stronger players are pooled together to form select teams-but the focus is still on playing well and seeing how far it takes us. Over the past 8 years we can safely say that our approach works. As ALL the players in the program improve we've seen our teams competing on higher and higher stages, including competing at National level competitions. Part of our approach is not over coaching the players, not burning players out at the younger ages and without tryouts. Not everyone is at the level where a team is the right environment for their development. STN has never turned those players away, and has training programs in place to help those players improve. If after an evaluation, a player is of the ability to be involved with our team based training they can return to that team year after year...no one is cut from STN. Our organization allows us to form custom rosters for certain events and we place players at their appropriate level. We believe that players improve and play well when they are smiling as they play. Up to this point, STN has never recruited any player...through word of mouth the club has 240 players registered again for the 2010/11 season. As a member it gives us the flexibility to change rosters, participate in games and tournaments in different locations, and make the correct soccer decisions for the players in the club. Our club is run by experienced soccer people who have every player's interest in mind. Player Pathway Players within the club know they have a soccer pathway. Players know that there's a place for them for the duration of their time at the club. Once the players participate with STN, they will have a place with STN year after year without needing to "try out". The pathway also opens the door for selection on STN teams that compete at high level events. Regional Challenges Year-Round Activities STN players have the chance to be with us as much as they can. We offer 4 parts to our program. Spring (outdoor), summer camps, Fall (outdoor) & winter(indoor). Parental Guidelines Parents are educated as much as players at STN. Our parents are a class act and we've had many referees and tournament directors compliment us on our conduct on the sideline. Coaching and/or directing from the sideline is not allowed. Yelling at referees is not allowed (by anyone in the club). We pride ourselves on breaking the mold when it comes to youth sports and sideline activity from parents. College Search & Placement A big part of our program is to help players make the right choice regarding college. Not all of our players play in college-but for those that want to, they have a support system which is unrivaled in the region. College showcase events, on line college recruiting profiles and meetings offer the nuts and bolts of the process. Where STN is different is that we have an extensive network of college coaches that we know well. We will pick up the phone for you and call those coaches. We will set up games to allow that coach to come and watch you play, but more importantly we prepare YOU, the player for college through our training. Our reputation has seen our older teams now being invited to several college campuses to play games in the spring, three events are already planned for spring 2011 What happens to players that are involved in STN? 1. They improve 2. They have fun 3. They make school teams, when maybe they weren't expecting to 4. Their playing time is more than expected during the school season Something more than soccer... Through this sport we've been able to shape many people's lives. The friendships and bonds that are forged within our club (among players from all across the state) are long remembered once players graduate from STN. Life can throw many challenges at you, and through sport there are ways for young adults to handle these pressures. We consider STN to be a family and we hope that the players and parents that have come through our program will continue to promote this sport. |
